How We Started
Leftover Love began in 2018 when our founder, Sarah Johnson, noticed how much perfectly good food was being thrown away at the restaurant where she worked. At the same time, she volunteered at a local animal shelter and saw many pets whose owners struggled to afford pet food.
Sarah realized that much of the discarded food—meat trimmings, vegetable scraps, and other items—could be safely repurposed as pet food. She started collecting these leftovers and bringing them to the shelter.
What began as one person's initiative quickly grew into a community movement. Today, Leftover Love works with dozens of food businesses and serves hundreds of pets each month.
